last week my cousin came from the philippines! she is here to stay with her dad and two older brothers eji and paulie and our grandparents. (the boys came here to stay when they were 5 & 7 and all they spoke was tagalog!) her name is claudine but she goes by her nickname which is "baby". my mom's name in the philippines is baby...obviously she is named after my mom. im named after my mom. (perhaps every girl in our family is named after my mom...so far we are 2 for 2!) this means we have an instant connection!

she is 13 and doesn't really speak too much english. i think she really knows a lot more than she's putting on but is too shy to talk to us fluent and rapid english speakers. :) her arrival means that there is FINALLY another girl in the family that is old enough to compete but still young enough to get out of kitchen duty at the family gatherings!
the US filipino cousins
back row: eji (17), sonny (my bro, 27), paulie (15)
front row: me (24), baby (13)
we just had a family birthday party for my uncle and it was a blast playing the game of Life with the cousins! we laughed when paulie who was the first one married, had no children but landed on "congratulations you're a grandparent!" and when eji ended up with two sets of twins and landed on the "pay for college $50,000 per child!" it always got louder whenever someone landed on "trade salary card with another player". and we found out that twins runs in the family, with 4 sets! baby ended up with over $2 million and won the game of life!

i think that's one point for the girls!
